St. John's successfully conducted in-person learning during the 2020/21 school year. We will continue to provide in-person education during the 2021/22 school year as long as it is safe to do so. Our 2021 fall semester COVID-19 plan is provided below. Please note that this plan is subject to change at any time. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions about the policies outlined in the plan.
The 2021 8th grade graduation ceremony began with the processional and then an invocation led by Pastor Ehrhard. Next, the class of 2021’s salutatorian, Emily, welcomed the audience to the ceremony and shared how grateful she was to be able to celebrate her class’s accomplishments.
Following Emily’s speech, Mrs. Jurica led the audience in “In Christ Alone” on the piano and then the class of 2021 recited their class verse, John 13:7, “You do not know now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
After the students recited the class verse, three of the class valedictorians, Addison, Sebastian, and Marianna, made their way to the front. Addison thanked the St. John’s teachers and staff for making learning fun and for their passion and humor. Sebastian took the time to thank the parents for their support and for the families that made it possible for the students to be at school during COVID-19. Lastly, Marianna expressed her gratitude for her fellow classmates and the friendships they formed over the years.
After the speeches, the school principal, Mr. Green, and the Chairperson of the Board of Christian Education, Mrs. Bohus, awarded the diplomas.
Then it was time for the final two class valedictorians, Jessa and Kyla, to give their speeches. Jessa stressed the importance of keeping God at the center of their lives as they move on from St. John’s and into high school. Kyla congratulated the class of 2021 for persevering during their 8th grade year and encouraged her fellow classmates to enjoy every minute of life.
The ceremony ended with a prayer and benediction led by Pastor Ehrhard as well as the recessional hymn, “Go My Children, with My Blessing” accompanied by Mrs. Jurica on the piano.
Following the ceremony, the graduates, families, and St. John’s staff were invited into the gym for dinner, dessert, presentations, and games.
We are so proud of the class of 2021 and everything they have endured and accomplished during their 8th grade year. They have persevered through a year full of masks, social distancing, virtual learning, and the loss of special events, outings, and extracurricular activities. We are proud to see how they have grown over the course of the year. We will be praying for them as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
